I usually grind most of the meat with the bones, but like to cut some of it into chunks. That way my cats' teeth get some exercise.
Ingredients:
2 medium organic chickens (I get mine from Holte Gård because the don't transport the animals for slaughter)
approximately two organic chicken livers
250-300 grams organic chicken heart
250-300 grams organic chicken gizzards (I order the hearts and gizzards (krås in Norwegian) from Holte Gård)
2 raw egg jokes from organic eggs (keep the whites out or cook them, cats should not eat raw egg whites)
Cut some of the meat into chunks and grind the rest with bones. You can put the egg jokes into the grinder too if you wish or just mix it in. I usually grind the gizzards (my cats prefer them this way, but you can chop them into pieces if your cats will accept it). I cut the hearts and liver into chunks and add it to the mix. I place the food in plastic containers and freeze it. Each container should contain food for 1-2 days, so you always have a fresh supply in the fridge. It usually takes the meat 12-24 hours to thaw in the fridge.
You can add some heated chicken broth (make sure it has no salt or yeast. Preferably home-made) at mealtime or some warm tap water. I usually feed my cats two times a day.
I'll post the chicken broth recipe I like later on and also how to make homemade treats :)
